The Executive Council of the Student Association is composed of both elected and appointed members. The Executive Council members of the Student Association are the official representatives and are responsible for the overall direction of the organization. The Student Association is comprised of three main groups, which includes the Student Association Cabinet, Senate and Class Council.
Tyler McMurray is a junior majoring in Animal and Dairy Science with a concentration in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. She is from Flowood, MS and would like to attend Veterinary School at Mississippi State. Her career goals include the opportunity to own her own private practice as well as dedicate time to helping underdeveloped nations become more agriculturally sustainable. Giving back to the university and its student body is one of her main passions. She enjoys doing so through the Student Association, and therefore wants to hear any ideas or concerns that you may have. Tyler has served as Secretary, the Director of Late Night Events, and as a Cabinet Committee Member of Freshman Council. In the past she has placed an emphasis on both Cabinet and Senate, hopes to see the two work together even more under her administration. Layton Little is a sophomore from Starkville, MS majoring in Accounting and Finance. Prior to serving as Vice President, Layton served two terms on the Student Association Senate as a Freshman Senator and as a Campus-Wide Senator. As a Senator, he served as the Community and Governmental Relations chair for the 2016-17 session and was voted the 2016-2017 Senator of the Year. Outside of the Student Association, Layton also serves as Interfraternity Council Vice President of Communication, Sigma Chi Fraternity Secretary, New Maroon Camp Programming Staff, and as a Maroon VIP Tour Guide. Layton also serves as Founder and Executive Director of Living for Tomorrow, a student group to promote mental health and suicide awareness. Stephanie Durr is a sophomore from Shreveport, LA. She is double-majoring in Political Science and Sociology while also minoring in Pre-Law in hopes of becoming an International Human Rights Attorney. Before serving as the Secretary, Stephanie served as a member of Freshmen Forum and then served one term as a Senator for the College of Arts and Sciences on the Academic Affairs committee. When not in the Student Association office, Stephanie is a Roadrunner, an active member of Chi Omega, and a student in the Shackoul’s Honors College. Stephanie is passionate about ending modern day slavery, but she also loves to hear about the passions that you have. Chief of Staff
Nick is a senior at Mississippi State University majoring in public relations from Millington, Tennessee. Nick has served the campus of MSU in several capacities as a Resident Advisor, Residence Hall Association President, Montgomery Leadership Fellow, and as an Orientation Leader. Nick is excited to be working with the Student Association for the first time and is passionate about serving the campus of MSU! Director of Programming
Mayah is a sophomore majoring in Educational Psychology from Meridian, MS. This is Mayah's third year serving the student body as a part of the Student Association. She has previously served as a Senator, and been a member of the Executive Council as Deputy Chief of Staff. Along side her Student Association service, she has also been a member of Maroon VIP tour organization, a member of Lambda Sigma Honors Society, a Freshman Maid on the 2015-2016 Homecoming Court, a counselor for New Maroon Camp, and is currently serving as the 2016-2017 New Maroon Camp Director. Mayah believes that it is the privilege and responsibility of the Student Association to represent every single student at Mississippi State, and is honored for the opportunity to do so. Director of Policy
Ben is a Physics major with a concentration in Pre-Medicine and a minor in African-American Studies. He is from Starkville and would like to attend either Medical School or Law School. Ben has been an active member of the Student Association, first as a a founding member of Freshman Edge and then as a Co-Director of Research and Development on Cabinet. He is excited to serve the student body and to work on initiatives that will directly impact students. Ben is passionate about MSU, MSU athletics, and research. Director of Marketing
Drew Baker is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Broadcasting and Finance. He is from Oxford, MS. Before serving as the Director of Marketing, he served one term as a College of Engineering Senator on the Campus Affairs committee. While away from the Student Association office, Drew stays busy as a graphic design intern for Hail State Productions and an active member of Beta Upsilon Chi Fraternity. Gipson is a freshman, majoring in Business Administration, from Jackson Mississippi. Prior to his appointment to this position, Gipson served as a senator in the MSU Student Association Senate. In his spare time, Gipson enjoys flying, traveling, and anything outdoors. Gipson is excited and optimistic about the future of the MSU Student Association!
