Started in 2008, the True Maroon™ campaign highlights a special Mississippi State tradition each year. A t-shirt and video are designed for the honored tradition and both are debuted during Super Bulldog Weekend each year. A portion of all t-shirt sales benefits North Central Mississippi United Way, and one home game for each sport is designated as a True Maroon™ game. Fans are asked to wear their True Maroon™ shirts to this game to "maroon-out" the stadium. Past traditions honored include "Hail State", Bully, and our Alma Mater: "Maroon & White."
Also part of the campaign is the True Maroon™ Senior Athlete of the Year award. This award is presented to the senior athlete who best exemplifies the qualities of being True Maroon™, and is voted on through an online poll. Past winners include Cody Freeman (Baseball) and Jarvis Varnado (Men's Basketball).

Letter from the SA President
My name is Michael Hogan and I am proudly serving you as the Student Association President for the 2013-2014 academic year. I am a senior from Memphis, TN studying Business Management. I hope that you all had a relaxing summer vacation and are ready for another MSU fall semester. I invite you to contact me if there are any questions or concerns you have involving campus life here at State!
This academic year is looking to be one of our most exciting to date. With programs such as Cowbell Yell, Bulldog Bash, and Homecoming looking to be better than ever, I hope you all are prepared for a year filled with Student Association events. Along with our programs, the SA is looking forward to assisting all students inside the classroom. We will be supporting the MSU Quality Enhancement Plan, Maroon and Write, to help better educate our peers on the importance of academic writing. We have also put in work to supply the student body with convenient student services including amenities such as cell phone charging stations. 2013-2014 looks like a promising year and I hope you all have the opportunity to give back to campus.
In the beginning of the fall semester, the Student Association is recruiting students to come help out on all of these student led projects. Applications for Senate, Class Council, Freshman Council and Forum, and Cabinet Committees are listed here on this very website. Take a look around and see what interests you! My doors will always remain open for students and I look forward to having the chance to serve students throughout my senior year. My office number is 325.7930. Please feel free to give me a call or stop by my office in the Colvard Student Union Suite 314. I wish you the best of luck with your fall semester!
